Razor-sharp, pleasure-center transitions carry you through this nostalgic trip into queer Hollywood club nights of times past. My first and only “by request mix,” this was produced as a wedding gift for a dear friend and “performed” at the reception deep in the Redwood forests of Southern California. The bride requested a number of her favorite artists and a a couple specific songs, but left it to me to choose the tracks and how to deploy them for a crowd-pleasing celebration of young love.
This mix largely represents the sound of the queer-friendly Hollywood nightclubs the bride and I visited regularly throughout the mid-to-late 2000s, but also features some of my friend’s idiosyncratic favorites that should be obvious.
